Welcome to the Luke Cory Trust Website!

Luke in Hospital

In February 2008, Luke Cory was a happy 4 year old boy who had just started school. He was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukaemia) and subsequently underwent numerous rounds of chemotherapy, only for it to return on 2 more occasions. Despite a bone marrow transplant, radiotherapy and all the advances in medicine, Luke tragically died in December 2009.

His parents and friends have set up this Trust to give other families with children facing life threatening illnesses a chance of making valuable memories by funding a holiday home at Bunn Leisure in Selsey. Luke and his parents had this chance in the New Forest while Luke was well enough to go and they desperately want other families to have the same opportunity.

Bunn Leisure Holiday Park in Selsey was a favourite of Luke’s and the location is close to Chichester Hospital, so children who need treatment or emergency care can be provided for.

We thank you for the support you are giving us, and assure you that any contribution, no matter how small, will be carefully used and is greatly appreciated.

Dec 2019 – SITE UPDATE – PLEASE READ...
Thank you for visiting our website but I am writing to make you aware of some changes to the Luke Cory Trust.

We will no longer be providing holidays and the trust is now in the process of closing, apologies if this makes for upsetting reading. It’s the right time for us to let go, and give another charity a crack at it.

When the LCT was formed it was always in the back of my mind that I was looking to run this until my son Luke would have been 16, this time has come round fast, but here we are. He would have been 16 in August just gone and left us 10 years ago early December.

The charity was started after personal experiences of being in and out of hospital dealing with 4 rough rounds of chemo, radiation treatment then a stem cell transplant, it’s a very disjointed life for a family. A couple of charities helped out in our time of need and provided a holiday for us to get away as a family, these provided much needed respite and fond memories. After Luke’s passing we wanted to make something good out of a shitty situation, and in a way pay it forward.

Here is a bit of background to the trust and what has been achieved:

  • Since the Trusts purchase of a static caravan, it has managed to help 104 families spend some quality time together at Bunn Leisure in our static caravan at no cost.

  • The LCT was started in 2011 and is now at its end in 2019.

  • The Charity has managed raise a whopping £90,687.21 in the time it has been running and also for a charity concert run to raise money for a trial drug which unfortunately didn’t have the desired effect.

  • We have had been lucky enough to have donations, awards and fund raising from all corners of our lives, friends, family and connections in our everyday lives, without these people and businesses we could not have helped so many, there’s not enough room on this page to thank you all individually you know who you are, I am eternally grateful.

It would be remiss of me not to mention and thank the tireless work Luke’s Auntie Lori has done for this charity for no reward, dealing with the Accounts, bookings, day to day running, and not to mention many issues which arose through the time we have been running, and also a big thank you to the team of trustees for all their hard work.

Any remaining funds in the Trust will be donated to a charity that provides a similar service and mission statement as ours.

Many thanks again to all.

Much love,

Stefan.
